Montserrat, just outside of Barcelona, is named after the jagged rock formations that look like a serrated saw. Best way to get to the top is to take the aerial cable car. Montserrat is well known as the site of the Benedectine abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat.
Montserrat is considerably colder at the top so we were glad to have been dressed warmly. At the top, there are several trails you can hike to see the mountain, depending on how far you want to go. We chose to do a tour around the town, which is very time, then we took the 3 mile easy walk. But there are certainly longer more arduous trails for those who want a bit more excitement!
